Summary

Great weather for the first race in the JYC Summer Series with wind from the South at 8 kts. We are in class "C" (PHRF 96-170 with spinnaker). The race course was #82 Start-2p-Sp-3p-2s-Finish (6.4nm).

Bill on helm, Rob Wray - tactician and main, Jenn Stone & Jane Eaton jib and spin trim, Ron Petrie & Vic Farmer mast & foredeck.

The starting line wasn't very square so we went along on stbd tack and started 3/4 way down the line, then sailed over into the current. The "gotchas" and areas of improvement from this race:
* 1st spinnaker set was a little slow as the kite was caught in the bag and on the pulpit
* Spinnaker douse was messed up. We talked about a windward takedown, but what actually happened was spinnaker was pulled in under jib on leeward side. This required taking off all spin lines, repacking and setting again
topside on rail in bag for final leg
* need to work with foredeck so pole can come down early with deck clear to tack before a douse
* we (Kneller & Wray) missed the call for rounding final mark to starboard. Jane called it and we recovered at last minute, but we lost about 45 seconds that would have put us in 2nd place on corrected time
* decent boat speed when Kneller wasn't talking and paid attention (shut up and drive!)
* main sail shape sucks! Kneller will look at getting the Quantum main fixed and brought to the boat (The #1 genoa and spinnaker looked great)
