Summary

Some new blood to help train the crew this week. Rhapsody welcomes Vic Farmer from Vee Jay #505. We had a beautiful night with light and variable winds from the south. The course was a special one (Start - JYC R - JYC 8 - JYC R - Finish) distance 4.5nm. We upgraded headsails and used the 2007 North #1 in preparation for the Leukemia cup on Saturday.

We did some crew training before the race with Ron, Jane and Steve learning how to position the prop for racing, how to plot the race course, and how to enter the course in the GPS.

The first start required a general recall which was good for us, because we got forced over by Lynx. The upwind leg was not too bad once we got some clear air. The 1st spinnaker set had an hourglass from the spin halyard being pushed aft of the jib leach before being raised. Once the spinnaker was flying, we did pretty well and actually caught a few boats. The next windward leg had us catching boats as the wind picked up, then dropping back as the wind died. Rounding the final mark before heading to the finish line was a perfect spinnaker set. Bill handed over the helm to Jane Eaton for last part the the final leg to finish. Bix & Vic did the foredeck and mast. Jane did pit with Denise, Kevin & Ron tailing & Grinding.

We took a crew photo on the way back, but I left my camera on the boat so will post it later.
